Looking for your Dream Island Holiday? Look no further than the Gilis, Indonesia's Untouched Paradises

by Exotissimo Travel

Are you looking for a remote tropical island getaway? Are you tired of all the noise pollution and distractions commonly associated with popular beach and island destinations? If your answer was an astonishing 'yes' to these questions, then the Gili Islands in Indonesia may be right up your alley.
What are the Gili Islands? Where are they? The Gili Islands, otherwise known as the Gilis are a set of three islands just off the northwest coast of Lombok , Indonesia and approximately 35 kilometers off the eastern tip of Bali. The islands are Gili Trawangan (the biggest of the three), Gili Meno (the middle island) and Gili Air (the closest island to Lombok).

So, what do you think of when you imagine your perfect tropical island getaway? Maybe an image of you and your loved one or family on an island filled with shady palm trees with a refreshing beverage in hand listening to the hypnotic sounds of the ocean's waves and with absolutely nothing to break the peace? Dreams can become a reality!
The small sizes of these islands make motorized transportation totally unnecessary. In fact, all motorized vehicles are not permitted on the islands. Imagine yourself on a bicycle with the ocean by your side or in a horse drawn carriage and able to easily loop the island in just a matter of minutes. Or walking on the beach and loop back to your resort in just a couple of hours? All without a single car or motorbike to disturb the peace.
Oh, and don't forget, all three islands feature crystal clear blue ocean waters, spectacular coral reefs and some of the best dive spots in and around Lombok and Bali. The islands are only a couple of kilometers apart, making island hopping easy. But please, DO NOT SWIM TO THE OTHER ISLANDS! The currents between the Gilis are strong and very dangerous! Catch the shuttle boats instead. They are available throughout the day and are a fun and scenic way to traverse between the islets.
So, if you are interested in an experience at any/all of the Gili Islands, be warned: the pace of life is slow, the sands are powdery white and the waters are clear blue. In other words, if you are looking for a frantic way of life and all the hustle and bustle commonly associated with today's modern world, you should not be here. If you are looking to escape from all of that, then welcome to paradise!
